Chocolate
Chocolate was created in Mexico. Chocolate was made by the Aztecs. They made chocolate drinks known as xocolati. Xocolati is a Nahuatl word meaning “bitter water”. Cocoa seeds have a strong bitter taste and have to be fermented to get its flavor. Americans took this cocoa and added sugar to it which is the chocolate we like to eat today.
Corn
Corn is the most common ingredient in Mexican food. Tortillas, tortilla chips, and just corn in general can be found in many Mexican dishes.
Chili Peppers
Chili peppers are another common food found in Mexican dishes. They can be very spicy and should be eaten with caution.
